Launched into super-stardom through his leading role in the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson has worked steadily to add more serious films to his resume. His leading role in the Safdie brother’s thriller Good Time, marks his first critically acclaimed performance, one that is generating a lot of award season buzz.
“There was no role when I first signed up to it, no script or anything,” Pattinson told The Hollywood Reporter during their Live Roundtable, about working on Good Time. “I just really like the trailer to the directors’s previous movie.”
“I’ve played a lot of parts that are quite reactive, and quite passive. I just wanted to play a part which was really on the front foot, and also didn’t have any shame, or any fear.”
Pattinson continued to praise his directors saying, “I think it’s just my own insecurities, or whatever, I want to find someone who doesn’t have them, and be like, okay, if I just hold onto the train, the train will go through the wall, and everything will be fine.”
The full Live Roundtable airs on SundanceTV, Sunday, March 4. Tune in to THR.com/roundtables for more roundtables featuring talent from the year’s top films.
