In case you've been on a social media cleanse, allow me to get you up to speed in the world of weird beauty trends: the feather (created by Finnish makeup artist — MUA — Stella Sironen), barbed wire (dreamed up by MUA @AthenaPaginton), and the newest brow on the block, the dragon brow (sculpted by MUA "V" aka @Harlibi).

I don't know what's making everyone freak out about these bold brow trends — other than the fact that they're wild AF — but they've been taking the internet by storm, so I decided to try my hand at sculpting all three. Couldn't be that hard, right? Wrong.

Let me just start by saying that when I took on this assignment, I had no clue whether or not I was even going to be able to execute these works of arch (See what I did there?!) because my brows aren't the bushiest in town.

For reference, here's what my baseline brow looks like...

Thankfully, with the help of Oribe's Original Pomade, Tigi's Bed Head SuperStarQueen for a Day Thickening Spray, and two precision-tip cotton swabs, I was able to create some version of these three brow trends going viral. Here's what each looked like IRL:

1. The Feather Brow

This is what Sironen's masterpiece looks like:

And here's my take on the quill-inspired brow:

Pretty good, right? Don't tell me if you hate it; it took me too long to perfect (I'm too close to this project and not emotionally ready for criticism).

2. The Barbed Wire Brow

Shortly after the feather brow was born came the barbed wire brow, the brainchild of makeup artist and illustrator Athena Pagington. Here's her creation:

And here's my rendition:

Honestly, this was hard AF to recreate because my brows were fighting against their normal growth pattern in a major way. I literally had to spray the shit out of them so this look would even stay. I'm lucky if you think it resembles Athena's barbed wire brow at all; I know it doesn't and actually looks a hot mess, but points for trying?

3. The Dragon Brow

The last brow I chose to recreate is the latest bold brow trend to hit the scene. Inspired by Sironen's feather brow, this arch work was brought to you by 23-year-old, self-taught makeup artist, "V" (@Harlibi on Insta), and dubbed the dragon brow:

My take on this wild trend:

Impressive, no? I'ma say yes, considering I was trying to pinch my brow hairs together with my fingertips but my long-ass fingernails kept getting in the way. This was as good as I could get.

Bottom line: I don't get these crazy brow trends because where do you wear them other than on Instagram for an upward of 6,000 likes? That said, I do have a newfound appreciation for the time and effort it takes these makeup artists to create them, because I was definitely sweating bullets trying to sculpt my hairs into these three styles.
