Residents who live in Birmingham’s Forest Park neighborhood and Cliff Road are now discovering what all the commotion was up and down their streets this past week.

The Netflix movie,  The Devil All the Time was being filmed.

In an email to Bham Now, publicist Cid Swank provided us a few details about the movie and why it is being shot here in Birmingham and Alabama.

“The Alabama film tax incentive combined with the fact that in this area there are locations that can double for southern Ohio and West Virginia from 1946-1966 are why the movie is being filmed in your state.

Yesterday and today are the only days we are filming in your neighborhood. This movie (The Devil All the Time) will be on Netflix; its release is still to be determined.”

Along with Birmingham, over the past two weeks The Devil All the Time has been filmed in downtown Anniston.

According to IMDb, the movie features Tom Holland, who has played Spider-man in the Avenger movies and Twilight star Robert Pattinson.  Bill Skarsgård, Mia Wasikowska, Mia Goth, Eliza Scanlen, Tracy Letts and Gabriel Ebert also star in the film.

The Devil All the Time is based on the novel by Donald Ray Pollock and the script is written by Antonio and Paulo Campos. Antonio Campos is also directing the film.

Producers include Randall Poster,  Jake Gyllenhaal, Riva Marker and Max Born. The Executive Producers are  Annie Marter and Jared Ian Goldman.

The movie, which is loaded with “star power”  is expected to be released in 2020 on Netflix, according to IMDb.
