Robert Pattinson has a peculiarly cool watch collection

Barring Cartier's most accessible flex, The Batman star's taste in watches is as confusing as it is fascinating
Robert Pattinson has a peculiarly cool watch collection that includes Rolex Presidential and a Cartier Tank Must

Much like the theory that dog owners look like their canine BFFs, Robert Pattinson's eclectic collection of watches is as off-beat as him and his career. The Batman 2 may well have been confirmed for 2025 after the success (and pay packet) of Pattinson's first turn as Batman, but the fact that he drives a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up tells you all you need to know about where his priorities lie when it comes to splashing his cash. So it comes as no surprise that there appears to be no rhyme or reason behind the watches he's been spotted wearing over the years. Specifically, we're talking about a Chanel J12, a Rolex Presidential, and a Cartier Tank Must.

For our money, the Tank Must seems like the best fit for him. Its offbeat elegance chimes with all those avant garde Dior suits and skirts that he gets to wear courtesy of the brand’s creative and his friend, Kim Jones. At the other end of the haute horological spectrum is the gold Rolex Day-Date President that he is sometimes spotted in. Beloved of rappers and actual former presidents of the USA, the watch is the equivalent of a blue chip stock: one look at it does indeed tell you exactly how rich you are.

Meanwhile, R-Patz's movie roles have also supplied some of the more unusual watch brand tie-ins of recent years. In 2012’s Cosmopolis he wears a black Chanel J12 watch with a black Gucci suit. If you’re going to wear what is technically a ‘tool’ or ‘sports’ watch with a sleek black suit, then the J12 is the one. Its groundbreaking mix of titanium and ceramic gives it a uniquely glamorous disco sparkle. In the Christopher Nolan movie, Tenet, Pattinson’s custom-made Hamilton Khaki Navy Below Zero is equipped with an integrated oversized digital display to go with its classic analogue dial. The different displays of the watch moves backwards and forwards as the duo zip through space and time in order to save the planet from destruction. While exciting, the watch and the movie are both rather confusing – a bit like Robert Pattinson’s watch collection.

Time will tell but whether or not R-Patz goes full Batman like Ben Affleck and bags himself a Rolex GMT-Master II ‘Batman’ as he leans further into the role, we'll see. But once money's on something a lot less predictable.
