Would not recommend watching this at 4 in the morning 3 hours before having to get up for school, but fuck me it kept me awake better than any coffee I've ever had.
One of the best modern neo-noirs I've ever seen, due to visceral directing, stunning and claustrophobic cinematography, an intoxicating and exciting score and all topped off by a completely immersive and balls to the fucking wall performance by Robert Pattinson. You rarely see somebody swan dive into a performance like this. I've only ever seen him in Harry Potter and Twilight and he is unrecognisable as this scum of the earth criminal that the film puts under a kaleidoscopic, helta-skelta moral examination that made me pause the film in shock for a solid 30 seconds before forcing myself to watch what he was doing. You'll know which scene I mean if you watch it.
Seriously, the Safdie Brothers are a directing force to look out for in the future and the film's on Netflix, nothing stopping you from watching if you have it.
