Robert's heartbreak: Pattinson 'hasn't been the same' since Kristen Stewart's infidelity and the evidence is beginning to show

Robert Pattinson may be risking his career in an attempt to mend his broken heart, sources close to the star say.

The Twilight actor has thrown himself into the LA party circuit since his breakup with Kristen Stewart after she cheated on him with her director, which has led to his team beginning to worry.

With pressure mounting for the London-born 27-year-old to follow up to the huge success of the Vampire franchise it seems Robert may be heading in the other direction.

'Kristen broke his heart, he has not been the same since she cheated,' a source close to thwe star told The Sun.

'His team don't want him to be defined by what club he goes to or what women he dates.'

Another insider told the newspaper that Robert's next move is crucial for his career in order for him not to be pulled down by the weight of his role as Edward Cullen in the successful franchise.

However, Robert was recently seen partying with Joe Jonas and Zac Efron for the former's birthday. Efron recently returned from a stint in rehab over a supposed cocaine addiction while last week it was rumoured that the reason behind the Jonas Brothers' cancelled tour was Joe's 'secret drug addiction.

According to Star Magazine, the Jonas Brothers were forced to cancel their upcoming tour due to Joe's addiction problems, after the band officially claimed the cancellation was the result of 'creative differences.'

Earlier this week he prompted speculation that he may have been in a fight when he was seen with a  visibly swollen left hand as he went out for lunch in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The mystery was enhanced by dark marks around his eye that he tried to hide under sunglasses, which could have been bruising.

Much puffier than normal and with red marks around his knuckles, the British actor protected his scuffed-up hand by carrying his take-out lunch in a foil container on the other side.

While Robert is right-handed, he could have swung a left hook at his opponent if he had gotten into a scuffle.

Dressed in a grey hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a black bag, Pattinson kept a somber expression as he walked from the LA studio.

The vampire hunk has been looking increasingly scruffy as of late, and up until this week he had an unkempt beard covering his dashing features.

It is unclear whether Robert got his injury from a fight, but if so it wouldn't have been the first time he let his temper get the better of him.

The Cosmopolis star reportedly got in a scuffle with a security guard who he mistook for a paparazzi photographer while at a West Hollywood hotspot in August.

Caught on video, the star seemed in a great mood as he left the Troubadour that night, but all of a sudden stopped and shoved the older security guard in the face violently. The man who was attacked later said: 'He thought I was someone else.'

Having always been in good shape, Robert has been beefing up even more lately ahead of his new role in Mission Blacklist, in which he stars as Eric Maddox, the military interpreter who helped hunt down Saddam Hussein.

Rob has been working out around the clock with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak and his staff of trainers including Sydney Liebes - who briefly appeared to have caught the star's eye.

In addition to Mission Blacklist, he has also been cast alongside Naomi Watts in Werner Herzog's adaptation of Gertrude Bell's biopic film, Queen of the Desert.

The actor will be kept busy with his shooting schedule as last month it was revealed that he had also joined the cast of Anton Corbijn's Life, as Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock, in the biopic about the friendship between James Dean and Stock.
